The BELL V-280 is a hybrid design between a helicopter and a fixed-wing aircraft. The engine’s rotor blades can rotate upwards for takeoff and landing, and rotate forward while in flight. The V-280 will combine the fast speed of a fixed-wing aircraft with the agility and maneuverability of a helicopter.
Developed since 2013, the V-280 Valor is the result of a collaboration between Bell Helicopter, Lockheed Martin, General Electric (GE), and a series of other companies. With its small and flexible size and the use of Tilrotor engine technology, the Bell V-280 Valor is a unique combination of the maneuverability of a helicopter and the speed of a fixed-wing aircraft, requiring less space for takeoff and landing.
As a hybrid design between a helicopter and a fixed-wing aircraft, the V-280 can fly at a speed of 555km/h, with a combat range of 1,400km and a combat radius of 3,900km.
