Dispelled by their owners – dogs seek happiness and comfort from cows

A tiny bull, shunned by his herd due to his small stature, has discovered pure bliss in his forever home alongside his adorable furry companions. The heartwarming moment occurred when Haru, the mini bull, crossed paths with two puppies who instantly fell in love with him. Amber Sullivan-Vo, Haru’s adoptive parent, exclaimed, “Our two foster puppies, Ashla and Bogani, absolutely adored Haru from the very beginning. They dashed towards him, showering him with affectionate kisses all over his face, jumping and lavishing him with love.”

Surprised yet delighted, two-year-old Haru bowed his head in response, relishing the attention bestowed upon him. Previously accustomed to solitude, Haru now relishes constant companionship as he resides among a pack of friendly dogs.

“Haru seems to consider himself a dog!” chuckled Amber. At the age of 30, Amber, a dog trainer, and her husband, Anthony, reside in Massachusetts. They contemplated adding another animal to their household over a year ago. Initially considering a miniature pig, they were deterred upon learning of their potential aggression towards dogs. Consequently, drawn to cows and harboring a fondness for them, the couple embarked on a search for a miniature cow breed.

“Mini cows are rare to find and quite expensive,” explained Amber. “But as a jest, we decided to browse Craigslist, only to be pleasantly surprised when we stumbled upon one.”

While arranging the purchase, the couple playfully speculated whether they would truly acquire a mini cow or become vicᴛι̇ɱs of a scam. However, when they arrived at the property to see Haru, they were greeted by a miniature Hereford, standing a mere 38 inches tall at the hips. Haru’s previous owners sought to sell him due to his inability to integrate into their herd, deeming him too deɱaпding to keep alone.

“Solitude isn’t beneficial for cows,” Amber remarked.

During their visit to see Haru, Amber and Anthony brought along two dogs to ensure that Haru did not exhibit fear or aggression towards them.

“He didn’t appear overly bothered, but he didn’t show much interest in us or the dogs. Our dogs are accustomed to various animals due to our training sessions and frequent visits from other animals, so they weren’t perturbed by him,” she explained.

After a few weeks, during which Amber and Anthony constructed a new barn for Haru, the previous owners dropped him off. Initially, Haru kept to himself as he acclimated to his new surroundings. However, with the help of enticing treats, he gradually emerged from his shell. Presently, a year later, the couple describes Haru as highly affectionate and intelligent, adoring both people and dogs. He even appears to consider himself a member of the canine family.

“He behaves just like them, spending ᴛι̇ɱe with all of us outdoors, sniffing the dogs, grazing alongside them, and eagerly participating in our training sessions,” Amber shared.

Haru has undoubtedly found a remarkable family and a comfortable life. Currently, he luxuriates in the summer sun on their property, relishing the taste of freshly cut grass.

“The dogs adore sunbathing,” Amber stated, “and you can often find Haru lying down with them, while the dogs frequently join him during grazing sessions.”

If the dogs engage in playful antics or begin zooming around, Haru willingly joins in, sprinting alongside them. “One of my demonstration dogs, Mali, loves to play chase with Haru,” she added.

Nevertheless, Haru’s utmost fondness lies with the young dogs of the pack. Ever since his first encounter with Ashla and Bogani, every ᴛι̇ɱe the puppies venture outside, they eagerly search for him, and Haru reciprocates the senᴛι̇ɱent.

“He particularly adores puppies and displays exceptional gentleness towards them,” Amber revealed. “His friendship with Ashla and Bogani was incredibly endearing. They would wake him up in the morning, locate him while grazing, and he would eagerly await their arrival near our porch.”

Whenever a new set of foster puppies arrives, Haru anticipates their presence with a lowered head, hoping for more affectionate kisses. If they don’t shower him with kisses, he contentedly observes their playful activities.

Amber and Anthony emphasize that such special friendships are a result of a combination of fortunate circumstances, training, and good temperaments. Amber earnestly advises, “Please exercise caution and refrain from trusting your dog with just any random cow, as they may not always exhibit the same level of gentleness.”
