While mature elephants were peacefully drinking water in Addo National Park, South Africa, a calf unexpectedly tumbled into a water hole. The calf couldn’t climb back onto the bank on its own. Immediately, the mother elephant and other mature elephants in the herd used their trunks to ɩіft the calf oᴜt of the water. Photographer Adele van Schalkwyk was fortunate enough to сарtᴜгe this heartwarming moment of elephant kindness. The mature elephants diligently employed their trunks to pull the calf to safety.
Schalkwyk was amazed by the elephants’ ability to collaborate and work as a team. Addo National Park is the third-largest wildlife reserve in South Africa and is home to 600 elephants.
