Thanks to a tractor provided by the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (DSWT), the giraffe was successfully freed from the mud. This was not only an act of kindness but also a small step toward preserving giraffes as a species.
Over the past three decades, giraffe populations have decreased by almost 40 percent due to habitat destruction, poaching, and huɱaп-wildlife conflict. DSWT has helped KWS with over 180 giraffe rescues, treating injuries caused by snares, spears, and arrows.
Despite the three-hour rescue mission, the giraffe walked off unscathed and seemingly unaffected.
