In Sao Paulo, Brazil, an owner found their dog, named Thor, with hundreds of quills stuck in its body. The pictures showed how the golden brown dog was covered in yellow quills on its muzzle, forehead, nose, ears, and legs.
Adriano Bertoline, a ɱaп who was out of work, initiated an online fundraiser when he couldn’t afford to pay for his pet’s veterinarian fees. Dr. Jose Roberto Apolari, a council member from the area, came forward to help out by transporting Thor to a veterinary clinic and taking care of the expenses.
Thor, a three-year-old furry friend, seems to have had a run-in with a porcupine not just once but twice in a year. The poor dog has suffered serious injuries from the quills and Bertoline took to the internet to plead for assistance in getting Thor treated.
“Hey there, everyone! I woke up today to find my furry friend in a bad state. Can anyone recommend a clinic or vet who can help him out? Unfortunately, I’m unable to afford the bills,” he tweeted. Luckily, a councilor named Dr. Jose Roberto Apolari came across the post and offered his support.
Adriano posted on Facebook, expressing his gratitude towards Dr Apolari, who played the role of an angel in his dog’s life, as he couldn’t afford a private vet. Adriano further added that he is currently unemployed and has four children to look after. The councillor not only took Thor to the clinic but also helped with the expenses and brought him back home safe and sound.
Thor’s owner reported that his furry companion has had two run-ins with porcupines in the past year. The first incident occurred in February 2021, when a friend of Thor’s owner, who worked at a private veterinary clinic, helped mend the injured dog.
It’s unclear how the porcupine was faring after being attacked by the dog, as there’s no information available at the moment.
