“Revolutionizing Air defeпѕe: MBDA Introduces the Mistral ATLAS RC Remote Controlled System”

MBDA is showcasing at Eurosatory 2022 its Mistral ATLAS RC. This latest generation system can be equipped with 2 or 4 Mistral missiles and can be mounted on light armoured vehicles. Mistral ATLAS RC is MBDA’s response to today’s requirements for a ωєαρσи system that combines high firepower, short reaction time, day/night surveillance and engagement capabilities, tactical and strategic mobility, providing a high level of crew protection. Mistral ATLAS RC is a new Mistral system based on a remotely controlled turret, equipped with two or four Mistral missiles and the latest generation thermal sight, capable of being mounted on light armoured vehicles such as the ARCUUS SHERPA, URO VAMTAC ST5, or NIMR Ajban 440.

Whilst the standard Mistral ATLAS system is a manually operated twin missile launcher, the new Mistral ATLAS RC system provides greater protection for the crew, since it can be operated from inside the vehicle’s cabin or, remotely, through a fully mobile workstation. Its 360° motorised turret is easy to operate, provides an optimised operational capability while at the same time keeping costs to a minimum. Mistral ATLAS RC is compatible with all versions of the combat proven Mistral missile and benefits from its many performance advantages. The system is designed to be integrated into a Command and Control (C²) System and can be operated with any communication system chosen by the customer. The system has been designed to minimize crew workload (it can be operated by a single soldier), to be easily integrated on a wide range of high mobility armoured or non-armoured combat vehicles and be air transportable in aircraft such as the A400M and C-130.

The Mistral (Missile Transportable Anti-aérien Léger, Transportable lightweight anti-aircraft missile), commonly called , is a French infrared homing man-portable air-defense system manufactured by MBDA France (formerly by Matra Defence and then Matra BAe Dynamics). It was initially deployed in 1988 for the first version (S1), 1997 for the second version (M2), and 2019 for the third version (M3). Mistral is a short-range air defence (SHORAD) missile system that can be used from vehicles, surface ships, and helicopters, as well as in a portable configuration. When used in the MANPADS role the “Mistral” missile is transported in a transport and launch container (MPC) together with “friend or foe” interrogator, power source and tripod with its sighting devices.
