The Playful Elephant Reaching for Leaves on a High Branch in the Dense Forest of Mana Pools, Zimbabwe

With their long dextrous trunks elephants can reach up into the trees to pluck off tasty foliage to eаt.

Sometimes though, their trunk just isn’t quite long enough to reach.

A number of bulls that live on the wooded floodplains of the Zambezi in Mana Pools National Park in Zimbabwe, have learnt that by standing on their hind legs they can reach up even higher.

Given their size and weight this remarkable trick must place considerable ѕtгаіп on their back legs, they can’t ѕtапd like this for very long.

One of several famous Mana bulls this one was named Fred Astaire, but is usually just called Fred.
