This is a description of a rare and endangered parrot that is only found at high elevations in the central Andes of Colombι̇a. Its feathers are a beautiful golden green with a sapphire crown, and when perched, its blue and red wings and tail can be striking. These parrots are usually seen in groups of several to a dozen birds flying from fruiting tree to fruiting tree in compact flocks. They were once very difficult to find, but in recent years, they have been reliably encountered along dirt roads high above the town of Santa Rosa de Cabal.
