In a remarkable feat of skill and courage, Tiffany Wienke, a female hunter, has captured a record-breaking 13-foot alligator in the Mississippi River. Despite having only gone alligator hunting twice before, Tiffany managed to snare this massive reptile, which weighed an astounding 311 kilograms (49 stone), on a Saturday night.
Accompanied by a party of six individuals who had been scouring the waters for 20 long hours, Tiffany’s group encountered the gargantuan alligator at Bayou Pierre. The creature measured an impressive 13 feet and 7/8 inches, surpassing the previous record by a mere one-eighth of an inch.
Recalling the intense encounter, Tiffany shared her experience with MS News Now, stating, “He ran us – literally crashed us into some trees, and bank-to-bank. He was pulling this boat full of people like it was nothing.” She described how they had to position the alligator in the boat with its head curled up in one corner, while its tail stretched across to the other side, resting on the opposite deck.
While acknowledging the significance of their achievement, Tiffany remarked, “We’re completely content with the fact that this will probably be the biggest alligator that we’ll ever catch.” The Mississippi Department of Fisheries and Parks has expressed its encouragement for hunters to continue searching the waters for more alligators, despite the remarkable record-breaking find.
In a statement, the department announced, “New record length male alligator on public waters taken by the hunting party of Tiffany Wienke from Vicksburg, MS. It beat the previous record by just 1/8. The alligator measures 13′ 7 7/8″ and weighed 686 lbs with a belly girth of 59″ and tail girth of 43″. It was taken from Bayou Pierre in the SW Zone.”
Tiffany’s accomplishment serves as a testament to the skill, determination, and bravery of female hunters, shattering stereotypes and proving that gender is no barrier when it comes to pursuing one’s passions and engaging in thrilling adventures. Her remarkable capture will undoubtedly go down in the annals of alligator hunting history, inspiring others to embrace the challenges and triumphs that await them in the great outdoors.
